Step # 1: The first step is to remove the old pad from
the polisher. Remember that the bolt is left-threaded which
means you turn clockwise to loosen.
Step # 2: Once the pad assemble is removed from the
polisher the second step is to cut the old Foam Pad away from
the metal hub. You may need to cut it with a utility knife.
Step # 3: Scrape as much of the old pad away from the
metal hub as possible, you want to remove any large chunks
that may cause uneven placement of the new Foam Pad.
Step # 4: Examine the metal hub looking for any warps.
The bearings should be good as they tend to last through 3
pads before needing replacement.
Step # 5: You will need an adhesive, it can be liquid,
spray or paste. Apply the adhesive to the metal hub, have
the new Foam Pad face down ready. Push the hub into the back
of the pad; apply enough pressure to ensure that the lip of
the hub is flush with the Foam Pad.
Step # 6: Here is the secret. Place a fairly heavy
weight, 10 to 15 pounds onto the center of the metal hub.
This will maintain constant pressure ensuring a proper seal;
let it sit this way for 10 hours (over night.)
PS - make sure the weight you use is distributed evenly across
the hub, if the weight is not centered, the hub will dry unevenly
within the Foam Pad and cause a wobble when the polisher is
running.
